New Home

On the porch of our cabin in Gatlinburg, TN on the side of the great smoky mountains.
Lest you should all be afraid that I’m bored in my “new” life; I thought I’d give you a brief snapshot of what I’ve been up to.

I’m still working mornings at the nursing home. When I get home I usually take a nap to catch up on sleep. I’ve always wondered why morning people marry night people, and now we are just one more couple that puzzles me.

Then I find some lunch. I’ve had a hard time adjusting to eating a meal by myself. The worst thing is making myself sit down and eat. There is so much to do around the house, that I have to make myself read a book in order to stay concentrated long enough to eat lunch.

In the afternoon I’ve been working on house projects. Usually my work involves drywall, paint, budgeting or organizing. I still work on unloading and sorting through boxes pretty much everyday. Between Josh and I, we have enough stuff to fill this house and then some.

Dinner, laundry and housecleaning are always fit in somewhere. I put up a rope from our carport to pool deck, and use my makeshift clothesline almost everyday.

The first day after we got home from our honeymoon we had our families over for root-beer floats and unwrapping gifts. Since then, there has hardly been a day that at least one of our family members came here, or we went there.

It’s a huge adjustment moving from my parents home to my own home. I miss my sisters the most, and I think Josh misses his cat the most!

In my vast three weeks and a couple of days experience; I love being married. I love having Josh as my husband. And I love my new home. As my brother Aaron says, “She is still in honeymoon bliss.”
