Food Money

Every so often I earn food money.
I take surveys for a company, and once my points hit 2,500, I quickly redeem them for $25.00.
These checks are commonly known as food money. This money is never used for items like oatmeal or potatoes. I use the money to buy fun stuff like gummy worms, subs, bagel sandwiches, ice cream, etc.

Recently, Libby, Julie and Naomi came with me to A&W where I traded food money for floats.
We sat in the drive-in, and had a dandy time. Any guesses on who these sipping sisters are?

Niki's Shower

We had so much fun.
Niki (one of my co-workers) is having a baby in November. This is her first baby and naturally she needs some baby items.

A bunch of us got together and surprised her with a shower. The big box is a stroller/car seat combo. We all chipped in and really surprised her. The cool thing was, when she opened it up, it was her favorite color (purple) and one she has looked at buying already!

I made a baby blanket and packaged it with one of my favorite children's book.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear.
Niki had seen the blanket in progress. I had taken the yarn to work and had some of the residents help roll the yarn into neat little balls.

Libby made chocolate cake and frosting from scratch. I frosted the cake and despite Logan's pleas, he received none.

I love life!

Last day of summer vacation

Logan and I shopped all summer trying to find a good deal on kayaks. At last, I purchased two from Dunhams. On my first several trips I noticed that my boat collected a puddle in the bottom. Although Dunhams policy is "not to exchange watercraft after it has been in the water" they took it back.

Logan and I began our water trip at the nature center and traveled down to the tridge.

As we turned the last bend near the tridge Logan started to force me toward the bank. I paddled hard but was losing ground. Suddenly a voice from the bridge called out, "Hey, be nice."

Brother Byler came down and visited with us for a couple minutes while we waited for Mom to bring the pick-up-truck.

When she came we had her try out the kayak too.

It was a good last day of summer vacation
