Kayak

This is looking downstream where we would have gotten stuck!

That is looking back upstream where we came from.

Ulyssa is the adventurous friend I’ve been missing in my life. Who else would let me put my Grandpa’s old car-racks on top of her car, then put the kayaks on and then drive down the road. What fun we had going down the Chippewa River. We started up at the new Chippewa Nature Center launch and came down to the main Chippewa Nature Center. It took us exactly 2 hours. We did scrape bottom quite a few times, so next time we’ll have to skip our morning meal and leave our water bottles in the car.

Kadie-ak

The water was high at the campsite this year. Instead of just having a scummy little black water spot, we had a cute lake. Kaelyn and Janessa frequently asked for rides in the boats. When I told them they were called kayaks, they tried to remeber that name, but when Kaelyn tried to say it, it turned into kadie-aks.
kadie-ak ride anyone?

Cranky Girls

July 4th was a terrific day at the campsite. It was filled with lots of little girl screaming. I think the four little girls were between the ages of 2-5. They had a dandy time. In the pool, in the mud, on the swings, playing with "tadipillars" (baby frogs), cranking ice-cream, scrambling for candy, shooting off air rockets, they had a blast.

Here are a few picture of them cranking ice cream. The freezers were up on the crocodile bed which was a great height for adults and a fabulous platform for the kids.

Eric and Libby were the designated adults. Naomi and Logan also helped out a lot.

Emily had a hard time remembering which way to turn the crank.

Samantha (in the purple) and Kaelyn (in the pink) had to share being chiefs.

Those two curly head cousins are so cute!

Four busy girls.
I was so busy watching kids and holding the baby brothers, I forgot to take a picture of the ice cream!
It was delicious and you'll just take my word for it,

America

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

St Ignace Car Show

Some of my friends invited up to the St Ignace car show. They also invited me to camp with them for the weekend. Then they waited for me to get off from work, and drove an additional 30 minutes out of the way to pick me up. In case you were wonder, the next exit after the Clare visitor center has a park and ride. We now know to use that instead of the one-way-no-easy-turn-around-Welcome Center. Anyway, here are some photos from the show.

Rebekah and Terril were always willing to pose. :)

Carmen and I drive these in our dreams!

Tyler admired this car that had more than just the tires in his view.

A unique parking brake.

Coolest paint job. It swirled Rebekah and Lydia's matching dresses.

Cutest truck on the block.

Ugliest truck on the block.

That's what it's all about.
