Apple Pies Today

When I got home from work today, Mom and I started making pies.

14 big ones
8 little ones (1 blueberry for Dan)

Naomi and I have been scared to go back to market without a pie.
Dan, one of Julie's preferred vendors, has been missing her homemade goodies. She always seemed to have something to share with Dan the lettuce man. Now that his wife has passed away, I think his well developed sweet tooth really is harder to over-sweetinize.
I hope he'll be happy that Naomi and I at least tried to live up to Julie's good name.

SPICE

A quick review to see what I'm doing in the areas of SPICE.

Spiritual

I've been helping out with Compass our young adult Bible study. Every other week we study a topic. I make out these blank sheets so everybody can take notes, and then I bring mine home and fill it out. That way if anybody wasn't there, they can still see what we studied.

Physical

We've been trying to learn how to play volley ball better. Unfortunately I hurt my foot, so I've been out of practice the last few rounds.

Intellectual

I start my next set of college course on Monday. I'm dreading them, but trying to be glad I only have ten credits!

Creative

I really can't take credit for it, it was Mom's idea. I made this blueberry flag to put up at our market stand. That way people can look from the parking lot and know that we are there. I knew that old tent pole I was saving would be good for something. :)

Emotional

This summer has been a learning time for Josh and I and our families. I'm so glad that God brought Josh into my life and is helping us learn together how to be His instruments.

This post was inspired by Julie.

Not Fishing

Last week Josh and I went fishing, but not for fish.

One of the sports Josh has introduced me to is disc golf. You have flat frisbees that you throw into metal baskets (called pins.) The basic idea is to get your disc into the basket (called a hole) in three (or fewer) throws. The theory of the game is simple. The learning of it is not. As you can imagine, my normal is about six throws to Josh's three!

Anyway, all that to say discs are important to Josh. When I was kayaking near the Midland course I found a disc that is old and rare. According to e-bay similar discs have been sold for $50 to $150 dollars!

After making that discovery Josh has been excited to go kayaking with me. It really turned more into a fishing excursion, but still it was kayaks in water. That made it fun for me.

We have only found one other disc so far. It still had its $7.99 price tag on it. But I think we’ll keep fishing.

Oh. Amy says that picking water lilies is against the rules. Something about them being endangered. Please don't turn me in. I was in blissful ignorance when I picked these fun flowers.
