Missionary's Sister

Being a missionary's sister entails some responsibility. Especially when you are a PR type of person like me. And especially when you come up with bright ideas. That usually means, the bulk of the bright idea, is your responsibility. Or in this case my responsibility.

I ordered these calendar magnets and sent Julie the sticky labels. Approximately two month later I received the labels back from Africa. I took the personalized labels and positioned them on the magnets. Then I used the addresses Julie had included and labeled envelopes. I also put in thank you notes before sealing the envelopes.

Thanks everybody for praying for my sister, the missionary. She appreciates it and so do I.

Perspectives

I'm taking a class about Biblical perspectives.

Here are a few perspectives from Perspective.

"When the kingdom of God is the goal of all we do, then competing calls and opposing ambitions fade under the sound of the King's marching orders." ~Dearborn

"Mission is our privileged participation in the lifegiving action of the triune God." ~Dearborn

"Contrary to many naive opinions, the devil is not a red monster with a pitchfork,
but often a do-gooder." ~Ellison

"... Israel began looking out for her own interests, as we often do, becoming a club of the pious and forgetting her calling to be sharers of blessing, truth, gifts and the 'Seed' to the nations." ~Kaiser

"He (God) is a God of steadfast love and faithfulness. This is not to say that he always fulfills his promises immediately." ~Stott

"Jonah is a lesson in educating a person to be a missionary: it reveals the need for a radical conversion of one's natural tendencies and a complete restructuring of his life to make it serviceable for mission."
~Verkuyl

Missing Julie

I miss my sister.

I miss hearing her tell the zucchini bread joke
I miss having sleep overs with her
I miss setting a place for her at Sunday dinner
I miss late night back scratches
I miss our long talks about everything
I miss hearing about her day
I miss eating her muffins (especially the white chocolate raspberry ones)
I miss taking walks together and talking about exercising
I miss doing sewing projects and last minute gifts
I miss going on road trips together
I miss having her here to give a valentine to
I miss hanging out
I miss calling her on my cell phone at break time
I miss sharing my big ideas with her (even if they just get the air let out of them)
I miss trying new food together
I miss going shopping at Salvation Army

I really miss my sister

p.s. When she gets home I plan to take her to the new Culvers, talk about everything and take a nice long walk. Then we'll have a sleep over at a friend's house after a road trip and while we are there we will have a late, night, back scratching marathon.

Lauren Mae's comforter

Lauren and I started on this 9-patch a long time ago. Maybe last winter? Ages ago.

This quilt says a lot about us.
We like colors.

We like working together.

We like old lady stuff.

Did I mention we like colors?

We like sewing

All done!

Today we finally finished Lauren Mae's, double-knit-polyester, 9-patch, comforter (do you like all the adjectives?) I think maybe we should just name it. Any suggestions?

Reading

Before Christmas, I was shopping with Logan and suggested he buy this book for Amy. Then I was shopping with Naomi and almost bought it for Amy. Then I was shopping with Libby and suggested she buy it for Amy, but Target was out of it.
Then on Christmas-eve Amy gave it to me.

Just like a farmer

Monday was Brian's last day off from school. He decided to take advantage of it by going up to Clare. We dropped off the little billy goat at the auction and then looked around at the animals of the day.

On the way home, we came through Sanford and saw a HUGE cloud of black smoke. When we looked across the lake we could see that a house was totally engulfed in flames. The firehouse was just across the lake from the fire. Just as we were going by it the fire trucks were headed out. We took a side street and looked across the lake. It was horrible. At first it looked like a two story house, but by the time we left, there was no house left. As I watched the smoke I could almost smell, taste and feel it in my throat and lungs. Oh those poor people.

p.s. this is a new way for me to post a video. let me know if you can/can't view it

micro SD

A full regular sized file cabinet drawer holds about 3,500 pages.

This little chip can hold about 1,150,00 pages of text.

Even when looking at a micro SD card I still wonder how our little brains hold so much.
